ARTIST DARIEN VARONA
Originally from a small municipality in Eastern Cuba, Darien Varona studied Sculpture and fine arts, graduating from the University of Enseñansa Superior. While at the University, the artist worked on animation and creating educational software programs, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
After 9 years of working as a graphics designer, Darien relocated to Havana to focus full-time on his art and creative pursuits. Here he immersed himself in the thriving art scene and quickly became a recognizable artist. His fascination with Pop Art as well as being inspired by the female form, Darien creates work that combines this style of art with the human condition. Leila Antakly interviews the artist on his artistic process and inspiration.
Darien is currently represented by Graffik Gallery in London and Kulture Cartel in the US.
Darien, please tell us about your inspirations and influences.
My greatest inspiration is the charm of the human body, as well as the power and beauty of women, capturing their strength and grace.
Tell us about your creative process, from the ideation to the finished work.
My creation process begins with an idea for the series. I make sketches on the computer then I try to do a thorough work on details of the human figure to finally make the background.....
Tell us about your last job or next program. What are the topics or messages?
I am working on a series of several paintings Floral Elegance, which shows the charm of the human body but also celebrates the power and beauty of women, capturing their strength and grace.
How do you feel about A.I. in the art world?
Personally, I think it's great. Assist the artist in The Creative Process. Analyze the possible markets. I think it's for the best and Is here to stay...
What does well-being mean to you?
For me it's satisfaction and tranquility... those two things are given to me by my family and art.
