SINGER AMBER JONES

SINGER AMBER JONES

Amber Jones releases her song Blueberries, and is working side-by-side with Scott Welch, a producer and mixing and mastering engineer who has worked with GRAMMY Award-nominated group Tank and the Bangas.

Originally from Connecticut, USA, Amber Jones is an emerging artist based in LA. Upon graduating high school, she took the practical route and attended college to become a nurse. Although music was never more than a hobby, a part of her wanted to live in a city where she could advance in the creative realm if she ever decided to pursue music more seriously.

Back then, Amber had no connections in the LA music scene. Until one evening, while struggling to confirm a ride home after a night out, that all changed. Her Uber driver canceled, forcing her and her best friend to book a new ride. During this trip, she played the driver a demo, and, impressed by her voice, the driver connected her to someone at Career Artist Management who helped her enter various writing sessions.

Your greatest inspirations or musical influences?

My biggest inspiration is my grandmother Georgia. She is no longer living, but her flawless voice will always have life. Growing up hearing Nana sing made me want to do the same. I always like to say that I got my voice from her. She relentlessly pushed me to sing more and I'm proud to say that I'm finally carrying out her wishes. Better late than never.

Tell us about your creative process..

For me creativity begins with inspiration. I have to be inspired. When I hear a guitar progression or smooth beat that makes me want to do nothing else but pick up a pen and paper, I know it's the right moment. This is when the creative process begins. I find myself creating melodies that I didn't intend to create. The next thing you know I've got a song that's worth releasing.

How does technology affect your work and creativity?

I'll be honest, technology sometimes has a way of hindering me. I've definitely allowed it to take my eyes off of my individual journey. It's so easy to jump on social media and admire the success of other artists who are further along than me. I'm realizing that comparison is the thief of joy. When I don't have joy, how can I create my best work? I can't. At the end of the day, I have to choose me, not technology, not social media. I chose Amber.

What does wellbeing mean to you?

To me, well-being is a state of mental and emotional peace. We need it in order to expand and grow as a human being.

Tell us what is your track Blueberries all about.

"Blueberries" was written after a night out with friends. We all came together to celebrate my birthday. I stayed up a little too late and had a little too much fun. That night made me realize that partying isn't something I love to do anymore. Yeah, it's fun at the moment, but recovery often comes with a price.
